Tania became one of the elite world sailors for 10 consecutive years and the best female sailor, in a single-handed dinghy, to compete in the Olympic finals in history of her country. Despite being the shortest and smallest of the fleet of Olympic athletes she competed against.
Tania was born in Mexico city. She started saling at 6 years old on the Lake of Valle de Bravo, near Mexico. When she was 9 she started racing in national events. Few years later she became national champion and part of the youth national team.
Tania dreamt with becoming the best in the world and winning an Olympic medal since she was 10 years old. She becomes a bronce medalist at the world Championship in 2005 and 2006 and an Olympian in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. She becomes one of the 5 best sailors in the world consistently from 2005 to 2008. Achieved her first dream of becoming the best in the world in 2007, therefore one of the favorite athletes to win a medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games where months before her quest she snapped her Achilles tendon shredding her dream.
Lacking the confidence of the sport institute and national support, she then had to do something crazy to fundraise her last Olympic campaign giving herself one last chance to achieve her life dream, an Olympic medal. Decided nothing could stop her, she established a World Guinness Record in 2010, which fundraised her last quest that hardly paid for the expenses of training and competing at the London 2012 Olympics.
